Brain Candy Management is seeking a Music Publishing Intern who will assist in various roles across our synch and publishing department. We are looking for an entrepreneurial creative to join our team and assist us in going beyond the traditional for our clients. The Music Publishing Intern will report directly to the Creative Partnerships Overlord. While we’d generally prefer our interns to be based in Nashville, TN we are waiving that requirement for Winter/Spring 2021 due to, you guessed it - Covid-19, thus all internships will be remote opportunities.   • Assist in researching and identifying potential Publishing contacts, clients and partners.

  • Assist in listening to, vetting, accepting or declining new publishing submissions based on BCM’s catalog criteria.

  • Assist in importing “qualifying” songs from publishing submissions.

  • Assist in catalog management, including: organization, conversion of files, data management, and more.

  • Assist in contacting publishers, songwriters, and rights holders to complete database requirements.

  • Assist in minor publishing clerical duties.

  • Assist in preparing publishing publicity materials such as decks and one sheets.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Currently pursuing a degree related to music business, publishing, or entertainment.

  • College/Trades-school credit is required for this position - letter from administration is required if a position is offered.     

  • Professional rhetoric and communication skills

  • Extremely detail oriented.

  • Knowledge of G Suite, especially Docs, Sheets and Slides

  • Spreadsheet and Database proficiency

  • Must possess a deep interest in music, familiarity with various genres and artists, as well as a hunger to learn more.

  • Must possess a basic understanding of copyright laws and publishing  (You know what a PRO is without Googling it)

  • Must possess a basic understanding of music business/industry vocabulary (If you knew what a PRO is, you’re golden)


  • This is an unpaid position

    • College/Trades-school credit is required for this position - letter from administration or proof of credit is required if this position is offered.

  • 10-15 hours per week

  • College/Trade-school credit is required

  • Ability to work remotely via their own device

  • Four month commitment required

    • January 2021 - May 2021
